Mission Groups
The purpose of a Mission Group is to enable an explosion of unlimited spiritual power and healing into the lives of Christians, the Church, and the world. The group is composed of a small, diverse group of Christians (numbering two to twelve) called together by the Holy Spirit in order to grow personally and spiritually, to belong to each other in love, to use their spiritual gifts, to carry out a common mission, and to faithfully follow Jesus’ call upon their lives. Specifically, mission groups are the primary way New Community Church carries out its ministries and provides mutual support, accountability and spiritual growth for our members.
Children’s Mission Group
To help children experience a sacred silence with God, so they can be connected to that great unfailing love of God.
To share God’s love with children through our love and Bible teachings.
To collaborate inter-generational Sunday school and worship experiences that will bring all ages together to grow more deeply into God’s love.
To provide opportunities for children to experience God through God’s creation.
To allow children to connect to the Creator within, by being creative.
Teen group meets 1st and 3rd Fridays, and children’s Sunday school offered for different ages every Sunday morning.
Nooma Mission Group
Nooma provides opportunities 1) to deepen commitment to Jesus through the journey inward, outward, and together, and 2) to build community with each other, the wider congregation, and others through prayer.
The members of Nooma live into our mission in a variety of ways: we take time to pray for one another and our church family during our weekly meetings; members of Nooma also participate in and promote events that help people connect with one another, both within the church and in our neighborhood.
Nooma meets virtually, on Zoom, Friday mornings from 8-9:30.
Resurrection and Recovery Mission Group
In response to Jesus’ question “Do you want to be healed?”, this group designs and practices a program of individual recovery tailored to each member’s area of need. The group also reaches out to others who answer “Yes!” to healing and recovery in their lives. Recovery & Resurrection holds an open Support Group every Wednesday at 5pm.
